Mobile Medical Clinics
Almost One Million People Benefit Annually from Our Free Primary Healthcare Services
MANT is committed to making quality healthcare accessible to communities that face barriers in accessing essential medical services.
We have been entrusted by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, to operate Mobile Medical Camps across 22 blocks in 7 districts of West Bengal. The programme was initiated in the last week of January 2012 and continues to provide essential healthcare services to underserved communities.
Every year, almost one million people benefit from our mobile medical camps, receiving essential primary healthcare services completely free of cost.
Our Healthcare Services
Through our Mobile Medical Clinics, we provide a range of essential healthcare services, including:
- Reproductive and Child Health Care Services
- Curative Healthcare Services
- Diagnostic Services
- X-ray Services
- Free Medicines and Basic Medical Care
By taking healthcare services directly to communities, the programme helps people access medical consultation, diagnosis, and treatment without the financial burden associated with private healthcare.
Bridging Healthcare Gaps
Programme Goal
The Mobile Medical Clinic Programme aims to bridge gaps in the existing state-sponsored healthcare system by bringing essential medical services closer to communities that have limited access to healthcare facilities.
The programme focuses on providing basic medical care, diagnosis, and medicines completely free of cost, helping reduce the challenges faced by people who may otherwise have difficulty reaching or affording healthcare services.
Why This Programme Is Needed
Access to quality healthcare remains a challenge for many communities, particularly in areas where public healthcare facilities face shortages of medical personnel and infrastructure.
According to data presented in the Statistical Yearbook India 2018, published by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, both primary and secondary healthcare systems in West Bengal faced significant shortages in staffing and infrastructure.
The Rural Health Statistics (RHS) 2018 highlighted the extent of these challenges. The state required 10,357 male health workers, while 9,171 posts had been sanctioned and only 2,848 were in position, resulting in a reported shortfall of 7,509 workers.
The shortage was also significant among specialist doctors. According to RHS 2018, only 125 specialist doctor positions were occupied out of the 1,392 required positions in Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the state.
These shortages place additional pressure on existing healthcare facilities and can make it difficult for communities to receive timely medical attention.
Bringing Healthcare Closer to the People
When sub-centres, PHCs, and CHCs face shortages of staff and resources, people may have to travel considerable distances or visit larger hospitals even for basic healthcare needs.
For families with limited financial resources, accessing private healthcare can create an additional economic burden. In such circumstances, mobile healthcare services can play an important role by bringing free consultation, diagnosis, treatment, and medicines directly to communities.
MANT’s Mobile Medical Clinics are designed to help address this gap by taking healthcare services to people who need them most.
Our Impact
Since the programme began in 2012, MANT’s Mobile Medical Clinics have continued to support communities across West Bengal by providing accessible and completely free primary healthcare services.
22 Blocks | 7 Districts | Almost 1 Million Beneficiaries Annually | Free Healthcare Services
Our continued efforts are aimed at ensuring that geographical distance, limited access to healthcare infrastructure, or financial constraints do not prevent people from receiving essential medical care.
Our Commitment
MANT remains committed to strengthening access to healthcare and supporting healthier, more resilient communities across West Bengal.
Through our Mobile Medical Clinics, we continue to work towards a future where essential healthcare is accessible to everyone, regardless of their economic circumstances or place of residence.
