Child Protection
MANT is committed to protecting children and preventing Child Marriage, Child Trafficking, Child Labour, and Child Sexual Abuse. As part of this commitment, MANT actively participated in and organized the Child Marriage Free India Campaign across Bankura and Purulia districts of West Bengal, reaching more than 100 villages under the project.
Through community awareness programmes, campaigns, pledge drives, and collaboration with government authorities and other stakeholders, MANT worked to strengthen awareness and collective action for the protection of children.
Campaign Activities
1. June Action Month
During June Action Month, MANT conducted awareness campaigns focusing on the prevention of child labour and child marriage. The activities were organized in connection with the World Day Against Child Labour on 12 June, engaging children, families, and community members to raise awareness about the risks and consequences of child labour and early marriage.
2. World Day Against Trafficking in Persons
On the occasion of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, MANT organized awareness activities and pledge programmes highlighting the importance of preventing child trafficking and child marriage.
Community members and participants were encouraged to take a pledge to protect children and contribute towards creating safer and child-friendly communities.
3. Child Marriage Free India Campaign
On 16 October 2023, MANT organized a Child Marriage Free India Campaign across Bankura and Purulia districts of West Bengal.
The campaign covered 100 villages, with focused activities conducted in 14 villages in Bankura and 12 villages in Purulia. The campaign successfully engaged approximately 1,500 villagers and 5,000 students, who took pledges against child marriage.
MANT worked in coordination with various government departments and authorities to strengthen the campaign. We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Railway Protection Force (RPF), District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), and other Government Departments of Purulia District for their valuable cooperation and support.
In Bankura, Bankura Sadar Police Station and the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) also extended their support to the campaign.
The participation of community members, students, government authorities, and other stakeholders helped strengthen the collective commitment towards eliminating child marriage and protecting children from exploitation and abuse.
4. PAN India Campaign for Rescue and Rehabilitation of Child and Adolescent Labour
As part of the PAN India Campaign by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) for the rescue and rehabilitation of child and adolescent labour, MANT actively contributed to identifying and reporting cases of child labour.
Through its field-level interventions and community engagement, MANT reported 28 child labour cases, supporting efforts towards the rescue, protection, and rehabilitation of children and adolescents involved in labour.
